Editors Note:

Even though it is overtaken by recent developments on the ground, we have posted Mitiku Adisus article on the current Somali Crises in this Website because the views expressed are different than the views held by the Editor of this Website on the Somali crises. In my recent article, I have expressed my support of the Ethiopian Governments action in supporting the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia due to the fact that such action promotes Ethiopias interest, especially against a fanatical Islamist declaration of Jihad against Ethiopia. In no uncertain terms, I have expressed my view that Meles Zenawi remains our monumental problem. I have no respect for his type of leadership that has led us to this brink of disaster, and Meles being the main factor in land locking our country depriving it of its legitimate historically supported sovereignty over the Afar coastal territories, our only outlet to the rest of the world. Nevertheless, we have to support our Army and Ethiopias interest even if it means we have to be in bed with Meles Zenawi and his Government for a while until this disastrous situation is resolved in favor of Ethiopia. This is simply a different perspective and evaluation of events surrounding us at this moment. Mitiku Adisu is a patriot by all measurements, and we respect his views; this particular article is simply wrong at this juncture of our history. Tecola Hagos
