Dear Patriotic
Ethiopians and Friends of Ethiopia:
Greetings in the
name of the Father, Son and Daughter (Holy Spirit)- The Supreme
Universal Intelligent Designer:
Re: Communicating
intelligently with all friends of Ethiopia and Ethiopians at this
critical time of transition and potential danger to our people and
our country.
It has become
clear that developments pre election, at election and post
election are gravitating to un acceptable confrontation, loss of
life and gradual move to chaos, dictatorship and out right terror.
It is important we
state our case with dignity and honor reflective of our culture
and most importantly the people we represent- vulnerable but noble
Ethiopians.
We have to request
for the rule of law to prevail and to bring all people top to
bottom, who organized the military to shoot at the crowd to come
to justice. Nothing short of justice should be demanded
here. Transparency and accountability demands that a
very thorough investigation takes place and we bring all involved
to local, African and International Court of Justice. Every
Ethiopian's life is precious and should never be wasted or taken
for granted. We need prosperity and good governance not
chaos of loss of life. Transparency and Accountability
should be demanded by all of us.
However, we need
to seek calmness and dignity even as we seek justice. We
should not be like Somalia, Iraq, Yugoslavia or former Soviet
Republics. We need to demand our rights with dignity and not
allow evil forces to descend on our people and our consciousness.
The letters from
Rep Chris Smith is excellent. We need to get such letters
from the President of US, Premier of Britain, UN General
Secretary, President of European Union, African Union and China,
France etc.
Most importantly
we should start a letter writing campaign and web site where all
friends of Ethiopia from all over the world can share this un
acceptable practice that is evolving in our country.
I believe in the
maturity and dignity of our people. They have shown it time
and time again that they are people of peace, dignity and justice.
Remember in 1991 transition for over 11 days there was no
government and our people governed themselves wonderfully.
Good Governance is an Ethiopian character and we should honor it.
We need to campaign aggressively for ensuring the votes and the
will of our people is honored and respected.
We need to do all
this legally both at home and around the world.
With my prayers
for the safety and honor of all gallant children of Ethiopia in
this critical time, I remain
